The year-end event of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities was held at Caucasus International University on December 20.
The event was opened by Ekaterine Chalaganidze, the Deputy Dean of the faculty, and she introduced the main achievements of the faculty to the audience.
The opening of the room named after the national hero of Georgia, Giuli Shartava, was celebrated at the university, where the author of the initiative, Advisor to the Rector of Caucasus International University, Giorgi Pareshishvili spoke. Within the framework of the day, the winners of the prizes for the video clips prepared about Zhiuli Shartava were awarded. The students of the journalism program, Lile Svanadze and Giorgi Phantsulaia, took the first place in the competition. The award was presented to them by Nana Amiranashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Irakli Sharia, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Journalism and Guram Liluashvili, a student of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations, won the “Best Photo Idea” nomination in the photo competition – “International Friendship at CIU”. It should be noted that Guram Liluashvili also became the winner of the essay competition on the topic: “Democracy and Freedom”. The mentioned award was given to him by Alika Guchua, Supervisor of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations.
The journal “Litmus” prepared by the students of the undergraduate journalism program was presented under the leadership of lecturer Tsitsino Bukia at the event and the respondents invited by the students appeared in front of the audience together with the lecturer: Nino Toidze, the manager of “Story”, and Ekaterine Torchinava, a teacher. Giorgi Pantsulaia, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Journalism, was awarded for the creation of “Litmus” Facebook page.
Zaza Tsotniashvili, Supervisor of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs, spoke about the achievements of the year in journalism. In this regard, the cooperation of Caucasus International University with the American DePaul University was emphasized.
It should be noted that this year the faculty changed its name – “Faculty of Social Sciences” became “Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities”. The reason for this is the introduction of a new undergraduate program – “English Language and Literature” - at the faculty. Nana Parinos, a lecturer highlighted the priorities of the new undergraduate program at the event.
International relations students, under the supervision of Nana Parinos, presented an English-language mock performance on the topic: “European Perspective of Georgia, Goals and Objectives” at the event. The following students were involved in the presentation of the mentioned topic: Nano Galantia, Keti Bidzinashvili, Ketevan Imnaishvili, Nodar Kopadze, Anano Nozadze, Tornike Sakhiashvili, Lizi Kuchuashvili and Giorgi Zhorzholiani.
Dachi Danelia, a student of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations was awarded in the nomination the active student of the year.
Tornike Kurtanidze and Mariam Sandukhadze, students of the Undergraduate Program in Journalism, as well as Demetri Vardukadze, a student of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations, made musical performances at the event.
The university mascot Mr. Shepard congratulated the audience with sweets for the coming Christmas and New Year towards the end of the event.
Tamar Okujava and Marika Chkhenkeli, the representatives of the Dean’s Office led the year-end activity.
