Student Self-Governance Elections
According to the decision of Caucasus International University Student Self-Governance Council, from 8 May this year, the current CIU student self-governance stops working and appoints extraordinary elections!
The elections will be held on 8 June, from 10:00 to 20:00 (by taking into consideration the schedule of MA and PhD students) by the decision of the self-governance council.
The procedures for conducting student self-governance elections are defined by the self-governance statute:
- 8 delegates will be elected from each faculty - 4 proportional and 4 majoritarian electoral systems;
- Only initiative group participates in the proportional system elections. For the participation of the initiative group in the elections, the head of the group must submit a list of candidates compiled by the faculties. The list of candidates for each faculty must consist of at least 4, and maximum 8 members.
- The number of self-governing members elected by the proportional system on the faculty is determined by the proportion of the received votes and the election threshold is 20%.
- Members of initiative groups or independent candidates can participate in the elections by majoritarian system;
- 4 candidates will be nominated on faculty initiative group in majoritarian system elections and the number of independent candidates is limited;
- A student with an active status has the right to participate in elections (to register as a candidate and / or vote);
- The voter has the right to vote for no more than 4 majoritarian candidates and one initiative group.
Election Committee provides the conduct of self-governance elections. The university student, representative of university administration or the representative of other university self-governance who is not connected with any candidate or initiative group can become a member of the committee.
Prior to enrolling in the self-government elections, the student or initiative group leader is obliged to register no later than May 25, and submit the following documents:
- Registration application;
- A complete list of candidates according to faculties (name surname/ID number/faculty/course) – in case of initiative group;
