Caucasus International University football team became involved in the Universiada Cup organized by University Sports Federation and played the first match.
The meeting was held at Arena 1, with Ilia State University team and the game was quite tensed. The first half of the meeting ended with 3:0, CIU took the advantage. Giorgi Tsertsvadze, Tazo Varakhamia and Irakli Jankhoteli scored the goals. The opposing team managed to open the score only at the beginning of the second half and scored three goals. The game ended with draw 3:3.
34 higher educational institution divided into six groups participated in the Universiada cup.
The final will be held in the last week of December where four teams taking first, second and the third places from each group will move.
CIU will hold the next meeting with Tbilisi Teaching University.
