On June 19, a presentation of the "Penitentiary Law” textbook was held at Caucasus International University.
The authors of the second edition of the book are: Moris Shalikashvili, Associate Professor of TSU, Doctor of Law of Hamburg University (Germany), Givi Mikanadze, Associate Professor of Caucasus International University, Zoya (Maya) Khasia, Advisor of the International Committee of the Red Cross on Penitentiary Issues, Associate Professor of International Black Sea University, Doctor of Law of TSU, Nunu Maglakelidze, specialist of the Analytical Department of the National Agency for Crime Prevention, Enforcement of Non-custodial Sentences and Probation, TSU Master of Law.
The book presentation was moderated by George Khatidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Caucasus International University. Kakhaber Kordzaia, Rector of Caucasus International University, addressed the audience and thanked the authors of the book for their productive work.
The aforementioned textbook was prepared within the framework of the grant project of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, and the emphasis was placed on the merit of the authors for the successful implementation of the project by Manana Begiashvili, the head of the Administration Department of the Ministry of Justice.
The book covers the following topics: the rights, duties and disciplinary prosecution issues of accused and convicted persons; rights, duties and social protection of the personnel of the penitentiary system; the role of penitentiary law in the legal system; the significance of constitutional principles upon the execution of sentence, etc.
The book can serve as a guide for the Faculty of Law students, employees of the special penitentiary service and the readers interested in the field.
