On April 25, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Caucasus International University organized a public meeting on the topic: “Us and Society”. Within the framework of the event, the film – “Transparent World” was screened and it was followed by a discussion.
The event was dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges and needs of children on autism spectrum. The speakers of the discussion were Rusudan Kvaratskhelia, a film critic, associate professor of Caucasus International University, Vakhtang Kuntsev-Gabashvili, director of the film “Transparent World” and Anano Bubuteishvili, a psychologist, professor of the Faculty of Medicine at Caucasus International University.
For your information, the film “Transparent World” depicts the story of the family of the famous cinematographer Davit Gujabidze. The main character of the film is 26-year-old Beka, who is on the autism spectrum, and his father helps him learn the profession - Beka is passionate about photography, simultaneously he is working on a film about a physicist and a composer. His photo exhibition was recently held. The father’s patience and understanding teach his son how to be independent in adult life, and he gains confidence in his own talents and abilities.
The meeting significantly contributed to raising public awareness of autism spectrum issues and encouraged an open dialogue to overcome the stigmas existing in society.
