“Church Wine Festival” was held in Guramishvili’s Marani (Saguramo) for the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia and international organizations on August 2.
The event was organized by the initiative of the Georgian Patriarchate, with the support of the Mtskheta Municipality and the Embassy of Israel in Georgia, the Wine Laboratory of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the National Center of Viticulture and Enology of the Patriarchate.
One of the sponsors of the event was Caucasus International University, which has been supporting scientific-practical activities and wine exhibitions in the field of viticulture and winemaking for years and promotes Georgian wine internationally.
It is a well-known fact that Georgia is famous for its diverse wine culture, including church wine. In order to promote it leading Georgian wine companies and family wineries, including Caucasus International University wines: Chinese-Goruli Mtsvane, Khashmi Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Tavkveri and Shavkapito under the name of Ethno Okami were represented at the event.
The event was dedicated to the day of the prophet Elijah Tezbitel. The meeting was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel, Ran Gidor, with a welcoming speech. Mr. Ambassador spoke about the 26-century Georgian-Jewish relations and its importance. The Mayor of Mtskheta Municipality, Giorgi Kapanadze also delivered a welcoming speech.
Three presentations were made at the meeting: A Brief History of the Georgian Church, History of Georgian Wine and 26-Century Georgian-Jewish Relations.
