Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, Caucasus International University Chancellor, together with Lado Jurkhadze, Khoni Municipality Mayor opened Irakli Abashidze street label, who was a poet and academician, while visiting Khoni municipality on June 15, 2019.
The opening ceremony, which was financially supported by Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, was attended by Caucasus International University administration as well as Khoni Municipality authorities and representatives of the society.
On the same day, Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze attended the opening of the bust of the social-democrat, Tavadi Alexander (Sasha) Tsulukidze in Khoni.
Khoni inhabitants congratulated Mr. Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze on 25th jubilee of the university since its establishment and his 70th birthday. He has been awarded the title of the Supporter of Georgian culture on behalf of Georgian Writer’s Creative Union.
We would like to remind you that Tavadi Alexandre Tsulukidze studied at Kutaisi Gymnasium. He studied at the Faculty of Law at Moscow University in 1897-1899. He worked at Okhranki library of Russian King. His health worsened because of tuberculosis. Returning to Georgia, Alexandre became close to Joseph Stalin. He was actively collaborating with journals and newspapers. He published his works in journal Trace in 1903 where he criticized the followers of utopian socialism: Sam Simon, Riccardo Smith, Jean-Baptiste Joseph Fourier and Robert Ouen. Sasha Tsulukiani has translated for the first time the work by German Philosopher Carl Marx - Capital. He was arrested in 1905. Sasha Tsulukidze died in Metekhi prison in June 21, 1905. His funeral in Khoni was attended by Joseph Stalin who had been recently released from prison.
