Georgian Diplomacy Week was opened at Caucasus International University on November 3, 2020. It consists of four online lectures for the society interested in international politics and diplomacy.
The week is dedicated to the Day of Georgian Diplomacy, and this date was established as a professional holiday of Georgian diplomats in 2004 and is connected with the birthday of the famous Georgian writer and public figure Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani. Georgian Diplomacy Week was opened by Tamar Kiknadze, supervisor of Caucasus International University Undergraduate Program in International Relations and Doctoral Program in Political Sciences and Vakhtang Maisaia, supervisor of Postgraduate Program in International Relations and International Security.
On the first day of the week, keynote speeches were presented by Ana Jebirashvili, Advisor to the Human Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on the topic: “Diplomatic Career Stages and Prospects for Future Diplomats’ Development/ Employment Potential” and Mikheil Ukleba, ambassador, a researcher at Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Georgia, on the topic: “Profession Diplomat/Diplomacy training courses”.
During the lecture, Ana Jebirashvili focused on the employment potential of future diplomats, internships and relevant career levels, which are important in diplomatic activities. Mikheil Ukleba reviewed training courses offered by Diplomatic Institute, introduced the skills necessary for a diplomat and shared his own diplomatic experience. In addition, he placed emphasis on the foreign policy strategy of Georgia for 2019-2022.
It is worth mentioning that the week provoked great interest. About 60 participants attended the first distance lecture and they were given opportunity to ask questions to the keynote speakers on the issues that interested them.
Georgian Diplomacy Week is organized by Caucasus International University Career Development Service, Public Relations Service and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The attendees will receive electronic certificates after the completion of the week.
