Caucasus International University (CIU), Georgian Eno-Tourism Association (GETA) and the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO) have launched a joint project, Wine Tourism.
On November 24-25, two meetings (Wine Tourism in Georgia, Viticulture and Winemaking) were held within the framework of the project.
Givi Kuparadze (Tourism Expert), a trainer, spoke about the definition of wine tourism, the main aspects and role involved in wine tourism and the geography of Georgian wine tourism at the first meeting.
Olan Gotsiridze (Dean of the Faculty of Viticulture and Winemaking at Caucasus International University), a trainer and Shengeli Kikilashvili (Ampelographer, Wine Company “Shumi”) discussed the main Georgian vine varieties, basic technological schemes of wine making, Qvevri and Qvevri wine making technology and classification of wines during the second meeting.
The project “Wine Tourism” includes in total nine training sessions, which are held at Caucasus International University, as well as at various outdoor locations, which, along with theoretical training, consist of mostly practical components.
It is noteworthy that a successful graduate will have the opportunity to do a two-week professional internship for free in Spain.
The graduate will receive a bilingual certificate issued by Caucasus International University (CIU), the Georgian Eno-Tourism Association (GETA) and the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO).
