Peter Lydyard, Caucasus International University affiliated Professor, an immunologist from Great Britain conducted PBL (Problem Based Learning) session online on June 12.
Learning in PBL method relies on an open-ended problematic issue in which students are actively involved while the lecturer is mostly in the role of a facilitator. With the given approach, the student takes on more personal responsibility for learning and becomes an active learner.
During the online session, Peter Lydyard discussed all the important components of PBL teaching on specific cases, starting with the introduction of the patient, ending with his or her diagnosis and treatment.
The online session was attended by students of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as administrative and academic staff of Caucasus International University.
It is significant that CIU Faculty of Medicine lecturers are planning to actively use PBL method in their academic disciplines.
