Media Literary Competition – Real or Fabrication?!

The Communications Commission and Media Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia is pleased to announce a competition Real or Fabrication?! in order to develop media literary – critical and logical thinking, analysis and fact-checking skills among the adolescents.

All undergraduate students can participate in the competition.

Within the framework of the competition Real or Fake?! students have to individually complete the following task:

To detect false information spread in Georgian media (Internet, television, print media, etc.) – “Fake News”, which is related to an event taking place in Georgia and which has not yet been proven as false information; to present the way of discovery, relevant source and at the same time establish real facts, a true story.

Students can choose the format of the assignment - video or multimedia work, presentation or other alternative creative form. A paper of any format should be accompanied by references.

Competition Deadlines:

Students have to submit the contest materials from October 12 to November 12, 2020.

To Submit a Competition Work:

• Contestants must create a Google email (mail.google.com);
• Submit their competition work after creating Google email using the following link: http://tiny.cc/oggb6y

Competition Rules:

• Students can choose the format of the competition assignment, but they must take into account the file size limit;
• Video length must not exceed 2 minutes;
• The presentation materials can be maximum 10 pages;
• The work of any format should be accompanied by a list of references.

Evaluation Criteria:

• How difficult it was to identify fake information and to prove a true story;
• How accurate are the facts of the sources;
• How creative the task is;
• How informative and presentable the work is;
• A work that does not comply with the terms and conditions of the competition will be automatically excluded from the competition;
• The plagiarized work will be automatically declined.
