On June 15, the presentation of a scientific-educational film - “20th Century Georgian Writing and Idea of National Identity. Real History” was prepared within the framework of project with the same title which became the winner of 2019 Targeted Grant for Science Popularization announced by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. It is worth mentioning that the film has been prepared by Caucasus International University, Georgian Comparative Literature Association (GCLA) and Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature.
The presentation of the film was attended by Zviad Gabisonia, General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia who congratulated the participants on the completion of the project and wished them success in their future activities. In addition, he discussed the significance of targeted grants for science popularization offered by the foundation. The presentation was also attended by Caucasus International University administrative and academic personnel.
The project supervisor and author of the idea is Professor Irma Ratiani. Five leading specialists of Georgian science narrate the history of Georgian literature of the 20th century in the film. The hitherto unknown details of restriction or violation of the intellectual or personal freedom of Georgian writers is also shown, which, naturally, will allow the general public to fully understand and interpret Georgian literature in a completely new way. The narrators will demonstrate the scientific evaluation of one of the most difficult and controversial centuries against the background of particular political, social and cultural strategies. The film consists of two parts and is intended to discuss the most important periods in the history of Georgian literature.
