Caucasus International University presented scientific activities to the society within the framework of the Science and Innovation Festival 2019 on September 23-28, 2019.
The presentation of the research outcomes of the scientific project - Impact of Creeping Occupation on Population Flow was held at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia on September 23, 2019.
The research, which was conducted within the framework of the Caucasus International University Small Scientific Grant in Shida Kartli in the borderline villages, referred to the 2008 Russian-Georgian War and the challenges facing the people affected by the creeping occupation.
The event was opened by Kakhaber Kordzaia, Caucasus International University Rector. He thanked the authors of the research for the implemented work and placed emphasis on the significance of the research.
After the official greeting, the report about the ongoing research and main outcomes was presented by Arina Tavakarashvili, Project Coordinator, Doctor students of Political Science Program at Caucasus International University. She discussed the research process, the main outcomes and focused on the security of locals, economic condition and harsh social backgrounds.
The event was attended by Caucasus International University administration, academic personnel, students and other invited guests of scientific communities.
The presentation of the scientific-popular film - Inconvenient Truth was held at Caucasus International University Multimedia Center on September 24, 2019.
A film based on the work by Al Gore, former Vice President of US and Nobel Prize laureate was presented by Ms. Sesili Gogiberidze, head of CIU Scientific Research Department.
Inconvenient Truth refers to the issues of global warming. The film shows dramatic photos and graphic illustrations that prove the scale of global warming and climate change on our planet.
Oliver Wendell Holmes Club of Debates “Free Trade in Ideas” was opened at Caucasus International University on September 25, 2019. The club, which will place emphasis on the significant issues of law, will be supervised by Mindia Ugrekhelidze, CIU Professor, Doctor of Law. A student of any faculty can become a club member.
The event was opened by Mr. Kakhaber Kordzaia, Caucasus International University Rector and Ms. Sesili Gogiberidze, Head of Scientific Research Department. They congratulated the audience on the opening of the club and wished them productive work.
Mindia Ugrekhelidze, a founder and supervisor of Club of Debates delivered a speech on the topic: Law as a Legimetrical Process. Law is not merely a static system of norms, values or even dimensions – he stated. Simultaneously, it represents a continuous dynamic process of law whose nomenclature and legitimacy are not properly studied to date, so its research is a highly promising direction.
The representatives of the CIU Faculty of Law, doctoral students, and invited guests also participated in the event.
Educational Project First Aid was held for Tbilisi Public School N207 pupils at Caucasus International University on September 26, 2019.
The training was conducted by Lasha Dolidze, CIU Clinical Studies Coordinator. He familiarized school children with theoretical issues for managing critical situations and showed practical examples.
A public lecture on the topic: Advantages and Disadvantages of the Sun were held for Tbilisi Public School N115 pupils at Caucasus International University on September 27, 2019.
The lecture was conducted by Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, Dean of CIU Faculty of Medicine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Dermato-Venereologist. She introduced to school children the types of skin diseases, advantages, and disadvantages of the sun’s rays. In addition, she introduced skin cancer prevention methods, early signs of skin cancer and sun protection measures.
CIU students visited Dmanisi Museum-Reserve on the last day of the Science and Innovation Festival 2019. They saw the remains of ancient humans and animals. In addition, they became familiar with the historical significance of Dmanisi for the middle-century Georgia, city architecture and monastery complex.
The historical excursion of Dmanisi was supervised by Ketevan Shoshiashvili, CIU Associate Professor and historian.
