Online public lecture on the topic: Labor Law Reform: challenges and Opportunities for Georgia was held for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Law at Caucasus International University on 17 February. The lecture was delivered by Dimitri Tsktishvili – Member of the Parliament of the 9th Convocation of Georgia, one of the authors and initiators of Labor Law Reform, President of Georgian Progressive Forum.
Within the framework of the lecture, the speaker discussed the process of changes in modern labor legislation and its importance, how valuable changes have been made in terms of eliminating discrimination in the workplace, protecting women’s labor rights and determining the legal status of internships.
The speaker placed emphasis on issues such as: regulation of working hours, guaranteed breaks and rest times, issues of legislative regulation of cooperation between employees and employers, etc. During the speech focus was also made on the process of establishing and developing the Labor Inspection Service.
The speaker spoke about the challenges and opportunities that the new labor legislation provides for the country and society, both in terms of protection of labor rights and the promotion of economic development.
The meeting was held in an interactive format, where students had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions about the issued that interested them.
