On February 21, David Schultz, the famous American scientist, politologist, honored professor of Hamline University delivered a public lecture on the topic: Thoughts on the Constitution of Georgia and the Future Prospects of Democracy around the World at Caucasus International University. The event was dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the first Constitution of Georgia and was organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Constitutional Democracy of CIU Faculty of Law.
The meeting was moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Caucasus International University, Mr. George Khatidze. He, during the event, awarded the students Dimitri Tsanava, Lika Japaridze, Revaz Berulava, Elene Baghaturia, Lana Oniani and Nino Khurtsidze with certificates for their contribution to the publishing process of the project “The 1995 Constitution of Georgia: Approaches to Creation” of the Scientific-Research Institute of Constitutional Democracy of the Faculty of Law at CIU.
CIU professor, academician Mindia Ugrekhelidze addressed the audience with a welcome speech, who spoke about the importance and development of the Constitution of Georgia since its establishment. Mr. Beka Kantaria, CIU Associate Professor also welcomed the audience.
David Schultz spoke about the importance of the 1921 Constitution of Georgia, the essence of democracy and its modern challenges. A documentary film depicting the life and work of Professor David Schultz was prepared for the event.
We would like to remind you that since 2019, David Schultz has been actively cooperating with the Constitutional Democracy Research Group of Caucasus International University. His scientific articles have been published in the first and third volumes of the “Constitutionalism Trilogy”. He is the author/editor of 28 books, 12 legal treatises and more than 90 articles.
The public lecture was attended by the academic and administrative staff of the Faculty of Law of CIU, the students of the postgraduate and doctoral programs, who received interesting and comprehensive answers to their questions.
