Annual Congress of American Academy of Dermatology was held in Washington (USA) on March 1-5, 2019. It was attended by Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Caucasus International University, a Dermatologist, Professor, a member of Board of Directors of International Society of Dermatology (ISD). She participated in a number of important events, including working out a new mission and a strategic plan of the Society within the framework of the Board of Directors meeting of the International Society of Dermatologists.
Furthermore, Ms. Lali Mekokishvili participated in the committee meeting of ISD regional events as a member of the committee. The main function of the committee is to make decisions on funding globally-planned international congresses and granting status to ISD regional events.
It is noteworthy that International Society of Dermatology represents a leading organization in Dermatology, which unites colleagues from all over the world. A membership of the Board of Directors of the above mentioned organization is a great achievement for Georgia.
Besides the above mentioned meetings, there was held a meeting of the editorial board of the scientific journal Dermatologic Therapy with high impact factor within the framework of the Congress. Ms. Lali Mekokishvili has been selected as its member since 2016. The mechanisms for increasing the journal impact, as well as the possibility of issuing scientific publications free of charge to low-income countries have been discussed during the meeting.
