On May 25, Georgian Wine and Culture Days were held in Villafranca (Catalonia, Spain), with the support of the City Hall and the Consulate General of Georgia in Barcelona.
The event was organized by Barcelona Wine Tourism Institute, Georgian Eno-Tourism Association - GETA and Georgian students and aimed to popularize Georgian culture, gastronomy and wine.
Before the start of the event, the city Vice Mayor Gemma Romeu hosted the Georgian delegation, which included: Consul General of Georgia in Barcelona, Alexander Chkuaseli, Vice Consul Lia Akhalbedashvili, Caucasus International University Vice Rector for International Relations, and founder of “Georgian Eno Tourism Association”, Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, representative of Caucasus International University in Spain Ketevan Gorgiladze, and Executive Director of “Georgian Eno Tourism Association” Marika Sharabidze.
The parties discussed the perspectives of mutual cooperation, which are related to the promotion of Georgian wine in Spain during the meeting. It was decided that under the auspices of the “Georgian Eno Tourism Association” Georgian wineries will have the opportunity to present their products at the annual wine festival of Villafranca. Also, it should be noted that a Georgian corner is allocated in the Museum of Wine Culture of Catalonia. At the meeting, the parties discussed exchange programs and opportunities in this direction, as well as the signing of memorandums of understanding between Villafranca City Hall and Georgian wineries.
On the same day, within the framework of “Georgian Wine and Culture Days”, the founder of “Georgian Eno Tourism Association” Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze presented six wineries and wine companies. These are: “Etno Okami”; “Chateau Mukhrani”; “Shumi”; “Mtevino”; “Naberauli”; “Spring Fields”, and later Georgian wine tasting was held with the participation of sommeliers and wine specialists.
