20 teams of higher education institutionsparticipate in the Basketball Championship organized by University Sports Federation within the framework of Supreme League and the Premier League across Georgia.
CIU team plays in the Supreme League where the teams of seven other universities fight for the top three places.
CIU team held two matches with Ilia State University on June 29 and July 2 at the semi-final. The first meeting ended with the score 110:87, Ilia State Universitytook the advantage. CIU basketball players defeated the opposing team with one-point advantage at the second match.
In accordance to the rules of the championship, Ilia State university became the winner of the two matches and moved to the final while CIU basketball team will fight for the third place.
