The Faculty of Medicine Board Meeting was held by the invitation of Lali Mekokishvili, CIU Faculty of Medicine Dean on June 22. It was attended by the faculty academic personnel and the representatives of Student Self-Governance.
At the meeting Lali Mekokishvili discussed the issues of authorization-accreditation, monitoring of clinical education in the educational process, the authority of the faculty Board, budget of the faculty and the organizational issues of learning and teaching.
Nino Chubinidze, CIU Vice Chancellor spoke about the future innovations and initiatives with the audience. As stated by her, all the changes that will be implemented at the University in the near future are aimed at creating a student-oriented learning environment, and the university will get closer to the models of European and American educational institutions.
The Faculty Dean placed emphasis on the significance of research component in the study process and informed the board members about the scientific grant competition for fundamental researches announced at the University.
Nino Sikharulidze, Quality Assurance Coordinator of the Faculty of Medicine delivered a report to the Faculty Board. She reviewed the issues of redistribution of points, minimum competence and monitoring of the learning process.
In the final part of the meeting, Ekaterine Kipiani, the head of the Clinical Skills Center, introduced the preliminary results of the final exam of the academic discipline “Pediatrics” - conducted with new methodology - objective structured clinical exam (OSCE).
