A practical seminar on agriculture coverage was conducted at Caucasus International University Multimedia Center. The event was organized by CIU and Journalism Resource Centre and attended by the representatives of academic sphere of higher and vocational institutions and current journalists.
The seminar was held in two sessions. In the first part (moderator - Head of CIU Multimedia Center - Nino Chalaganidze) module of agriculture coverage was discussed and the second session (moderator - JRC chairperson - Natia Kuprashvili) reviewed the importance of Agro Guild and the role of educational institutions.
Durign the practical seminar emphasis has been placed on journalism, in particular – the significance of Agri-Journalism.
Natia Kuprashvili, (JRC Chairperson) spoke about inadequate coverage of agricultural issues in Georgian media based on statistical data and media reports. In addition, she noted that in the country where agriculture is considered as a priority field the course of agro journalism should be one of the mandatory constituents of the curriculum.
She introduced the content of the training course, format, teaching method and assessment criteria developed within the framework of the project to the audience, and listened to their advice and recommendations.
The participants conducted symbolic signing ceremony of Neighborhood Agro Guild within the framework of the practical seminar.
We would like to remind you that Journalism Resource Centre (JRC) started working on academic module Agriculture Coverage since 2014 within the framework of the project supported by MARCY CORPS, Alliance in Caucasus, Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency.
Caucasus International University, together with higher education institutions in Kutaisi, Gori, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe and Batumi were actively engaged in working out, establishing and developing the course.
