CIU students attended the seminar conducted by Georgia Red Cross Society. The event was organized by CIU Department of International Relations and Career Development Service.
Ms. Tamuna Kamkamidze, Disaster Management Coordinator of Georgia Red Cross Society introduced history, mission, mandate and vision of the organization to students. She also placed emphasis on the work specificity of the organization in Georgia.
As stated by Ms. Tamuna Kamkamidze, the International Committee of the Red Cross uses seven fundamental principles as a guidance: humanity; Impartiality; Neutrality; Independence; Voluntary (volunteer-based) service; Unity; Universality.
Ms. Tamuna Kamkamidze reviewed each principle in detail during the seminar. However, she placed special emphasis on volunteer-based service.
According to the representative of Red Cross Society, currently there are approximately 2700 active volunteers working in different directions. CIU students are welcome to become the members.
The concluding part of the meeting was held in the form of question-responses. The presenter highlighted the activities of Red Cross Society across the world and its role.
