First-year graduate students of Georgian Viticulture-Winemaking Program of the faculty of Viticulture and Winemaking at Caucasus International University, together with the program supervisor professor Olan Gotsiridze, visited three leading wine companies in Kakheti on June 8, 2018.
Students visited Telavi Wine Cellar which prides itself with 100-year history. They had a look through the so-called “Way of Wine”, which includes all the stages of wine production (from vineyard to bottling).
Within the framework of the visit, students were introduced to the company’s vineyards and enterprise infrastructure with the help of Mr. Beka Suzashvili, the chief technologist of Telavi Wine Cellar and Ms. Tamar Gurgenashvili, Quality Service specialist. They became familiar with the complete cycle of grape processing, various technological schemes of wine, innovative methods of stabilization, quality management and control.
Towards the end of the visit, graduate students were given opportunity to sample different wine categories of the company by the decision of the company representatives.
It is worth mentioning that traditional wine cellar had a special impression on visitors.
Mr. Roland Burdiashvili, Operation Manager of “Chateau Schuchmann” and Mr. Gizo Okhanashvili, Production Manager of “Chateau Mosmieri” discussed company achievements, significant issues of wine exporting, multifunctional infrastructure of chateaus and future perspectives for the development of wine tourism during the meeting with students.
