Art and Management of Political Image Creation

Caucasus International University is pleased to welcome to a certificate course of international standards – Art and Management of Political Image Creation.

Famous politicians and representatives of media will be invited as guests during the academic process. In addition, the participants will visit the Parliament of Georgia and will attend the work of the committee and sessions (Kutaisi) and will have interviews with political leaders.

Subjects and Lecturers

1. Political PR, Political Management and Peculiarities of Image Creation / 30hours / - students will learn the peculiarities of public relation (PR) strategies as well as the main issues of image creation: leadership pyramid; art of verbal and non-verbal communication; technologies of message creation; collection and processing of psychographic data; selection and planning of strategy; events management.     

During the studies, almost all forms will be used: lecture, discussion, debate, practical work.

Lecturer Tamar Chiburdanidze - Head of the Department of Training and Consultation of Institute of Political Studies; PhD student of Educational Program in Political Science at Caucasus International University, Faculty of Social Sciences; Georgian Parliament staff member, trainer of Georgian self-government organizations, political parties and organizations in “Technologies of Political Image Creation” and “Election Political Technologies”.

2. History of Politics / 14 hours / - students will study the main issues from the history of world politics, political systems, regimes and ideologies. In addition, the significant cases from famous politicians’ lives will be discussed.  

Lecturer Tamar Kiknadze – Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Supervisor of BA Educational Program in International Relations and Doctoral Program in Political Science at Caucasus International University.

3. Analysis of Political Processes of Recent History / 10 hours / - the course of lectures “Analysis of Political Processes of Recent History discusses the reasons and development of the cold war (1945-1991). The following issues will be analyzed: Failure of the totalitarian communist system, the destruction of the socialist camp and its consequences; geopolitical picture in the current world and the impact of significant demographic changes on the international situation. The course ends with analysis of existing forecasts.

Lecturer Petre Mamradze – Associate Professor at Caucasus International University since 2016 (Social Sciences). Candidate of Sciences in Physics and Math (1992, Saint-Petersburg); author of two monographs and numerous analytical-publicistic works.  

4. Modern Problems of International Security / 10 hours / - the aim of the course is to implement detailed analysis of the threats and challenges facing international security. In particular, the objective of the course is to familiarize students with the main approaches connected to the concept of security, problems of weapon control and armed trade, challenges of organized crime, drug abuse and terrorism, conflicts in the modern world, the main aspects of the difference between “global north” and “global south”, demographic issues, etc.

5. Relation with Media and Management of Information / 12 hours / - students will learn information management and its delivery to public. In addition, they will become familiar with the peculiarities of freedom of information, legislative acts and public information; methodology of information collection, processing and spreading, creation of database and their use, preparing press releases, relation with media, foundations of media law and journalism ethics.

At different periods: Deputy editor-in-chief of newspaper “Resonance”, Gerd Boucherier's golden wing and golden pen laureate. Member of the 8th Parliament of Georgia, Deputy Chairman of the Education and Culture Committee; Currently, the Deputy Head of Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Corrections.

6. Electronic Management / 8 hours / - The students will be able to fully understand and use the existing electronic communications systems, its most efficient use and very flexible simple methods. They will become familiar with the secrets of the best and simplest use of world experiences. In addition, they will learn special skills and tools for use of these resources in order to be able to easily manage and use efficient electronic resources for their own needs.

7. Academic Writing / 7 hours / - the objective of the course is to develop academic writing skills, scientific thinking and ability to create adequate texts. The course of lectures is based on the principles of academic writing established in international practice and includes methods and means of creating a scientific work. The content of the course takes into consideration the development of logical argument and the ability to develop argumentative discussion.

8. Management of Advantage – Success Formula / 12 hours / - students will be able to acquire the skills of creative thinking that can be used to gain both personal and organizational advantages, management oriented on result benefits and solving daily concrete problems and incompatibility. The gained skills are universal and they can be used in any kind of service and field. It is focused on the acquisition and development of special skills needed to generate and implement innovative ideas on the market, creative projects. Trainings are conducted to demonstrate solutions to specific corporate or organizational problems.

9. Researches / 8 hours / - students will study quantitative and qualitative research methods, technologies for working in focus-groups. After gaining appropriate knowledge students will be able to simply conduct political studies themselves.

The aim of the course is to introduce research methods of social sciences and methodological and practical knowledge. During the course students will obtain information about all types of researches and methods, will study in detail research stages: planning, establishing research design, finding and analyzing resources, summarizing results and presentation. After the completion of the course students will be able to conduct complete and high quality academic researches.

Lecturer Miranda Abramishvili – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Caucasus International University, he conducts a course of lectures – Research Methods in Social Sciences.  

10. Political Marketing / 10 hours / - the course will introduce such issues as: political marketing and political consulting; political marketing and elective engineering, public relations; analysis of political systems and political processes; political image and image making; a matrix of political strategy; mass media and political debates, discussion, presentation; political marketing and state management.  

Lecturer Jaba Samushia – Professor, Doctor of Historical Science, editor-in-chief of the journal “Historian”.

11.Presentation Technique / 6 hours / - Students will develop skills necessary for planning, preparing and presenting presentation.

A special guest from Poland: 

12. Modern European Political Technologies, Political Culture and Political Psychology – students will learn modern European political technologies; become familiar with the history of democratic development of Poland, as a central European country. In addition, emphasis will be placed on political culture in Georgia after Rose Revolution.

Lecturer Marczin Aleinik- Master of Social Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University, PhD student in Political Sciences. At different times he has worked as: Head of the Polish State Constitutional Reforms Department; Advisor to Polish Prime Minister in Policy Issues; Head of the Polish Government Information Bureau and others. 

Marczin Aleinik will conduct the lecture in Russian language. A translator is envisaged within the framework of the course.

Academic Process

Duration of studies 6 weeks (lectures). The classes will start on 4 June, 2018.

Lectures will be conducted every day except Sunday. During work days in the evening from 19:00 to 22:00; on Saturdays in the morning or in the afternoon.

Course duration: 130 hours

Individuals interested in certificate program should send a copy of ID and CV by email and fill in the application form.

The deadline for submitting documents is 29 May, 2018.

An interview with the committee will be held after submission of the documents, on 1 June.

Certificate

Upon the completion of the course, participants will be awarded certificates in Political Image Creation Manager issued by Caucasus International University and Institute for Political Researches. 

Requirement for certificate:

• positive assessment
• Passing mid-term and final exams;
• Preparing final project (for final exam). 

Students’ knowledge will be evaluated based on a special approach developed by the trainer, who will introduce it to the students at the very first meeting.
