A campaign “May Measurement Month” is organized in May by Georgian Society of Hypertension and National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
World Hypertension Day is annually celebrated in more than 100 countries all around the world. Georgia also joins one of the biggest global screening campaigns in the world with the campaign – “May Measurement Month”. Its aim is to raise awareness of arterial hypertension among the population.
The campaign “Know the Figures of Your Blood Pressure” was held on 9 May in Trade and Entertainment Center “East Point”. By the initiative of Tamar Vakhtangadze, affiliated Professor at CIU, the university students of the faculty of Medicine also joined the event.
The rate of hypertension in Georgia is high, therefore, we belong to high risk factor countries in terms of cardiovascular disease. It is well acknowledged that about 30-50 % of adult population suffer from high blood pressure. Most of them receive treatment irregularly, and some of them even do not know what their blood pressure is.
The aim of the above mentioned campaign is to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and inform the population.
Campaign participant students were awarded International Research certificates.
