Joint Meeting of faculty of Medicine Council

A training on modern technologies for teaching Medicine was held by the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and it was attended by the faculty academic personnel.

Lali Mekokishvili discussed the standards of medicine teaching during the meeting and introduced the innovations and challenges to the academic personnel which will come be implemented from January, 2019.

New standards were established based on 15 documents and global standards and envisage teaching based on outcomes and competences, horizontal and vertical integration of knowledge, 360-degree assessment system, the significance for conducting practical (OSPE) and clinical examinations (OSCE) which will be structured objectively in accordance to new standards. In addition, PBL will be introduced and it unites portfolio and the significant characteristics which are considered by modern educational system.   

After Lali Mekokishvili’s speech, Nino Sikharulidze, co-supervisor of BA Educational Program in Medicine (language of instruction Georgian and English), Tamar Kezereli, an invited expert and Ekaterine Kipiani, Head of CIU Clinical Skills Centre delivered speeches.

The speakers placed emphasis on the significance of practical (OSCE) and clinical examinations (OSCE) which will be structured objectively in accordance to new standards and discussed the implementation of such kind of modern exams in Faculty of Medicine programs.

Ekaterine Kipiani, head of CIU Clinical Skills Centre introduced the centre activities, aims, challenges and existing material-technical base to the audience.

Towards the concluding part of the training, participating academic personnel asked questions to the speakers, they talked about timeliness and necessity of discussing the issues discussed and positively evaluated the training.

Participating professors were awarded certificates upon the completion of the training.
