Caucasus International University has been actively implementing school-educational project for the fourth year. Correspondingly, teachers of public and private schools in Georgia have worked intensely in order to prepare their pupils for the competition. From the experience gained from previous years, Caucasus International University, after the work and communication with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, planned to hold Teachers’ First Scientific Conference.
The above mentioned conference – “The Use of Innovative Educational Technologies and Approaches during Teaching Process” was opened at CIU Conference Hall by KakhaberKordzaia, Rector and highlighted the significance of the event.
VakhtangTsivtsivadez, CIU Chancellor addressed the audience at the plenary session and distinguished pedagogical activity as the biggest merit and contribution to the country. The Chancellor also placed emphasis on the new initiative of CIU during his welcoming speech and discussed the patronage of five schools across Georgia. This initiative envisages the improvement of school infrastructure, establishment of school laboratories and delivery of lecture-seminars by CIU academic personnel. The audience approved the initiative highlighted by VakhtangTsivtsivadze and the participants expressed hope that other higher education institutions will also support CIU.
SesiliGogiberidze, Head of CIU Department of Scientific Researches, Mariam Jashi, Chairperson of the Education, Science and CultureCommittee of the Parliament of Georgia and MarikaSikharulidze, Head of National Center for Teacher Professional Development addressed the conference participants and audience.
It is worth mentioning that after the opening ceremony of the conference, by the initiative of Mariam Jashi, teachers were given opportunity to express their position and ask specific questions to the Chairperson of the Education, Science and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
The participants took part in five panels in accordance to the working program of the scientific conference. Three sessions in humanities and two technical ones were operating within the framework of the conference.
As stated by Marina Ugulava, conference organizer, teachers from all over Georgia became engaged in the event. At the first stage, about 100 people expressed their desire to participate in the conference, however the committee selected 77 authors of the presentations for the final stage.
The aim of the conference is to facilitate the formation of joint academic environment between public and private schools in Georgia; to stimulate teachers’ activities, to share mutual collaboration, knowledge and experience and to connect teachers’ research activities with real market demand.
Committee members awarded teachers certificates at the concluding part of the event. It is worth mentioning that the certificate issued for the introduction of innovative educational ideas and a successful presentation will provide each participant teacher with additional credits.
