Selection Criteria: Three candidates nominated by the European Court of Human Rights will be elect by Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Currently 2 candidates are selected.
Principles for Candidate Selection:
- Public and open calls for candidatures;
- When submitting the names of candidates to the Assembly, describe the manner in which they had been selected;
- Transmit the names of candidates to the Assembly in alphabetical order;
- No candidate should be submitted whose election might result in the necessity to appoint an ad hoc judge;
- Every list contains candidates of both sexes (Exceptions are allowed if the candidates belong to the category of sex which is represented by less than 40% of their total number, or if there is a special circumstance).

Additional requirements: 1. A candidate for a judge from Georgia to the European Court of Human Rights can be from 35 years to 65, Georgian citizen who satisfies the following requirements:
- Proficiency in state language;
- Good command (B1 level) of one of the official languages of the Council of Europe (English or French);
- Has a full compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights, the relevant case law and the work experience in this field;
- Has an excellent command of the principles of international public law and Georgian legislation;
- Meets the requirements established by the Georgian legislation for a higher judicial position or is a recognized lawyer;
- Has at least 5 years work experience;
- Has high moral and professional reputation.
2. A candidate who knows the second official language of the Council of Europe on the average level is considered to be the advantage of a given candidate.
Additional information:
- Identity and biographical data of candidates selected at national level shall be submitted to the Advisory Panel consisting of experts from the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 10 November 2010, in order to give the Contracting Parties the advice, whether or not the nominated candidates are satisfying the requirements of Article 21 (1) of the Convention;
- In case of successfully completing the previous stage, the list of candidates will be submitted to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe; The Assembly shall elect one of the three candidates to be a judge;
- The judge shall be elected for a period of 9 years. However, the term of office of judges shall expire when the judge reaches the age of 70.

Biography (Curriculum Vitae) should be submitted in Microsoft word format in Georgian language, as well as English or French. Deadline for submission is 24 August, 2017.
