Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Scholarships

Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia implements a project “Dimitri (Arzakan) Emukhvari and Zhiuli Shartava Scholarships”.

Undergraduate and graduate students of accredited higher education institutions who are working on the issue of Abkhazia and are distinguished by special achievements and success represent the target group. They must have high academic performance 80% or more, published scientific works and participated in various scientific conferences and must be active socially. 

“Dimitri (Arzakan) Emukhvari Scholarship” is granted to graduate students who are working on the topic of Abkhazia in the field of social sciences. The monthly scholarship for Master’s student is 150 GEL (no more than one student), and 100 GEL for Bachelor’s student (no more than one student).

“Zhiuli Shartava Scholarship” is granted to graduate students who are working on the topic of Abkhazia in the field of political sciences. The monthly scholarship for Master’s student is 150 GEL (no more than one student), and 150 GEL for Bachelor’s student (no more than one student).

The scholarship will be granted from the date of appointment on a monthly basis, for one academic year (ten months).

The following documents must be submitted:

1. Statute of Institution;
2. One letter of reference;
3. A copy of ID;
4. Student card;
5. Documents verifying a publication of a scientific work and participation in scientific conference;
6. Certificates (if applicable);
7. Information about social activities.

A candidate’s documentation will be submitted to the Minister of Education and Sciences of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. The submitted documents will be sent to the special committee for evaluation. 

First year students can participate in the rating of the scholarship from the second semester and the gardes of the first semester will be taken into consideration.

Note: Documents submitted after the due date will not be evaluated.
