The final of the project “Homeland Starts from My District” was held at the Conference Hall of Caucasus International University on 20 March, 2017.
10th, 11th and 12th year pupils of public and private schools participated in the contest. They had to plan a tourist itinerary and organize a virtual excursion in one particular region. The participants presented the itinerary of their region by a video specially prepared for the contest and persuaded the committee in the advantages of their choice.
As stated by the committee, about 50 applications have been submitted. Top 12 participants have been selected. 5 students were awarded for best presentations, 4 pupils were named as the committee favourite and finally the owners of the best three places were named.
The first place was occupied by Ana Nizharadze, II place – Mariam Chitashvili, and III place – Mariam Gelashvili. All participants and teachers were awarded souvenirs and the finalists received 300, 200 and 100 GEL voucher from ALTAOKAY.
The committee was made up of Ani Gulordava, head of Domestic Tourism Stimulation Department of Georgian National Tourism Administration, Paata Dolidze, Deputy-Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Nino Zaalishvili, Senior specialist at the department of Marketing and Public Relations of National Agency of Preserved Territories and Nino Kekelidze, Director of tourist agency “Discover Georgia”. The chairperson of the committee was Lali Mikeladze, supervisor of BA Program in Tourism at CIU.
