Caucasus International University delegation made up of three people visited the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran on 24-28 November, 2016.
The university delegation included: Rector Kakhaber Kordaia, Deputy Rector Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze and Maya Kapanadze, Associate Professor of the faculty of social sciences and head of Iran cabinet. The aim of the visit was to sign a memorandum of collaboration between Tehran State University and Caucasus Research Centre.
The memorandum has been signed by CIU Rector Kakhaber Kordaia and Elaheh Kulai, head of Tehran University Caucasus Research Centre. The above mentioned memorandum was planned at the second international conference dedicated to Georgia-Iran Relations held at Caucasus International Unievrsity on 7 June.
The university delegation held business meetings in order to promote Iranian studies at Georgian universities, organized meetings with organizations promoting Islam and Iranian culture, with Sayd Mohamad Reza Darband, head of SAAD society International Relations Development Centre and Mehdad Rakhshande, head of Iranian Society International Relations Development Centre.
Both sides discussed the possibility of mutual exchange programs for Georgian and Iranian students.
SAAD society vowed to Caucasus International University delegation to equip Iran cabinet with the necessary scholarly literature and inventory.
It is worth mentioning that SAAD society has increased the quota of CIU students from one to three.
The university representatives also met Doctor Mohamad Rezas Takhshir, dean of the faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Tehran University.
Kakhaber Kordaia delivered a lecture on the topic: “Cultural Relations of Georgia and Iran” at the Faculty of law and humanities of Tehran University after signing the memorandum. The lecture was attended by Fereidanian Georgians together with Iranians.
The delegation visited the sights of Tehran. They were hosted by the organization for cultural development of Islam and Iran.
