Kakha Kakhishvili, Minister of Corrections and Probation of Georgia met Caucasus International University students on 15 November, 2016.
The topic of the meeting is: “Main Directions of the Ministry of Correction and Probation of Georgia: Achievements and Challenges”.
The invited guest was introduced by Kakhaber Kordzaia, university rector and Professor Gia Meparishvili.
The Minster discussed the history and structural reforms of the Ministry. In addition, Kakha Kakhishvili placed emphasis on the code of justice for under aged, principles for distributing sentenced in penitential institutions and possibilities of medical service.
The meeting was held in the form of a dialogue. The questions referred to the condition of under-aged in penitential system, employment of sentenced, implementation of disciplinary measures, the procurator’s supervision and liability of the accused in the torture of sentenced during 2007-2012.
Both parties have agreed to sign a memorandum of mutual collaboration between Caucasus International University and the Ministry of Corrections and Probation of Georgia during the meeting. Students will have an opportunity for internship and practice within the framework of the memorandum.
The minister initiated students’ visits in penitential institutions.
The university administration and academic staff attended the event together with the students.
