Caucasus International University actively joined Human Rights Week on December 10, 2018 and hosted Ms. Marine Kvachadze, Head of Analytical Department of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Ms. Natia Jugheli, Senior Consultant of the Center for Research and Analysis at the Analytical Department, Mr. Tornike Chichinadze, employee of the above mentioned Center, and Mr. Nika Dateshidze, employee of Analytical Department of Human Rights Center within the framework of the conference Achievements and Challenges of Human Rights held at the University Conference Hall.
The event was opened by Ms. Nino Chubinidze, Vice Chancellor. The guests introduced to the students and the attending society the Georgian search base of European Court decisions on Human Rights. As stated by them from now on, interested individuals will be able to get acquainted with the 5000-decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in their native language, which is a luxury for any nationality.
The Tendency to Reflect International Standards on Banning Discrimination in National Legislation – this was the topic that was discussed by Ms. Natia Jugheli, Chief Consultant of the Center for Research and Analysis at the Supreme Court of Georgia. In addition, she reviewing the specificities of such categories of disputes by courts.
Mr. Nika Dateshidze, employee of Analytical Department of Human Rights Center discussed discrimination as humiliating treatment. He reviewed the decisions of European Court on the given theme as well as the cases against Georgia. The concept of discriminating treatment in relation to European convention article 3 on Human Rights and standards set by Strasburg court have also been reviewed.
