Next meeting with the students on the topic – My Profession – Pediatrics was conducted by Mr. Teimuraz Mikeladze, Pediatrician, within the framework of Career Week organized by the initiative of Caucasus International University, Career Development Centre and the Faculty of Medicine.
The head of Pediatric Service at Evex Regional Hospital and Curatio Clinic briefly reviewed his education in the field of Medicine, qualifications, scientific papers and work experience.
The speaker reminded to the attending audience the definition of pediatrics, as a field of Medicine and noted that children represent one of the most vulnerable social classes, thus they require special attention.
The presenter divided the meeting, which was held within the framework of the Career Week, into several thematic parts and discussed such issues as: childhood diseases, geographic area for their spreading, distinguishing infectious diseases according to nationality, age and gender, children’s and teenager’s periods, rational antibiotic treatment, etc.
Mr.Temur Mikeladze placed emphasis on the significance of trust in pediatrics, which must exist between a doctor and a patient, as well as between a doctor and a patient’s parents. As stated by him children manage to recover faster and easier than adolescents, correspondingly they respond to treatment faster; however, parents’ instant reaction during illness and appropriate treatment methods chosen by the doctor are crucial in this process.
The concluding part of the meeting was interactive. It is noteworthy, that Mr. Teimuraz Mikeladze presented to the university library a book prepared by his authorship – Nutrition for Pregnant, Breastfeeding Women and Children.
We would like to remind you that in total 5 meetings will be held within the framework of the Career Week organized by Career Development Centre and the Faculty of Medicine from December 10 to December 15, 2018. The aim of the above mentioned project is to assist the students of the Educational Program in Medicine to choose their majors and plan their career.
