International Summer School/Conference in Dermatology (with special emphasis on Psycho-Dermatology) was organized by Georgian Association of Photodermatology and Skin Cancer and Caucasus International University on July 15-17, 2019.
Three -day school/conference was held with the support of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry. The event was hosted by Jacek Szepietowski, president of the above-mentioned Society, a member of the Board of Directors of various international professional societies, Vice-Rector of Wroclaw Medical University.
Dermato-venereologists, allergists, residents of Dermatology-Venerology and Allergology programs participated in Georgian and English International Summer School/Conference.
The aim of the school was to introduce the updated information on the most common chronic diseases of the skin to practitioner physicians and on modern treatment methods; in addition, psycho-emotional status management and psychological support methods of dermatological patients.
Practical seminars/workshops, analyzing individual clinical trials were held within the framework of the school/conference. “I am proud that our university hosts such school/conference in Dermatology and emphasis will be placed on a new discipline – Psychodermatology. Contacts with Wroclaw medical University is of utmost importance for our university, this relationship has started this year. We jointly managed to win the Erasmus+ program and then, soon, have started to expand the program and have engaged bilateral relations on our agenda. A number of our staff had already visited Wroclaw and their delegations visited us. I am delighted and proud that the Vice-Rector of Wroclaw University is with us today. I do hope that these three days will be very productive for all of us” – stated Kakhaber Kordzaia.
Ms. Sesili Gogiberidze, Head of Scientific-Research Department at Caucasus International University and Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine also addressed the audience at the opening ceremony.
The first day of the school/conference was dedicated to the papers on psoriasis, the second day – atopic dermatitis and itching and the third day – acne and similar diseases. The topics were mainly discussed by Jacek Szepietowski, Vice-Rector of Wroclaw University. Doctors and students working in this sphere also made presentations. Ms. Maya Datuashvili, Doctor of Medicine, Associate Professor at Caucasus International University delivered a lecture on the topic: Stasis Dermatitis on the second day of the school-conference. Professor Lali Mekokishvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Caucasus International University conducted a lecture on the topic: Role of Demodex, How to Detect a Mite, Acne, and Rosacea – New Visions at the concluding day.
The participants of the school/conference were awarded certificated at the end of the event.
School/conference participants also visited the unique material-technical base of the Faculties of Medicine and Viticulture-Winemaking, modern laboratories and university wine cellar at Caucasus International University.
