International Scientific Conference – Georgian Wine and Vine – Traditions and Scientific Challenges was opened at Tbilisi State University on May 10, 2019.
The conference is organized by Caucasus International University and Tbilisi State University, with the support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation.
The theme of the conference is diverse, covering Georgian scientific fields about wine and vine. The results of the international researches conducted in Georgia and abroad in historic-ethnographic and modern technological-agro-diversity and economic-political directions in viticulture-winemaking are presented.
Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, Caucasus International University Chancellor, Kakhaber Kordzaia, Caucasus International University Rector, Nino Okribelashvili, Tbilisi State Unievrsity Deputy Rector, Daviti – Abba Alaverdeli, Georgian Traditional Wine Foundation Chairperson, Zviad Gabisonia, General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and other honorary guests attended the opening of the conference.
Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia placed emphasis on international researches conducted in Georgia and abroad during his speech and stated that Georgia plays a key role in vine and wine history. “Today there is held an international conference where our partners are Tbilisi State University and Caucasus International University, which we welcome because there is a great scientific potential” - claimed the Minister.
Kakhaber Kordzaia, Caucasus International University Rector highlighted fundamental researches in the direction of wine and vine and discussed the activities of Caucasus International University in this direction.
The presenters of the International Scientific Conference are from the leading universities and research centers in the field of Viticulture-Winemaking in Georgia, Europe and Canada.
The conference events were hosted by Tbilisi State University, Caucasus International University, Jighaura Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Ikalto Qvevri Academy and Georgian National Museum on May 9-12, 2019.
