2nd International School-Conference - Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology 2019, has been successfully held on April 1-5, 2019. The event was organized by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Caucasus International University, with the supported of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
Together with Universities, the event has been hosted by Partner organizations during five days: Laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).
The aim of the school conference is to support the development and promotion of Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology in Georgia by sharing the knowledge and experience among the Georgian and foreign researchers, and to contribute to the professional growth of students and young scientists. Georgian and foreign scientists from leading institutions and research centers participated in the school-conference. They presented results of innovative researches in Biotechnology and modern achievements in biotechnology of food, health care, agrarian and environmental protection, including: Pennsylvania State University (USA), The Institute Pasteur (France), Michigan State University (USA), Lund University (Sweden), University of Thessaloniki (Greece), University of Teramo (Italy), Sent Istvan University (Hungary), Artvin University (Turkey), National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), Eliava Institute, Laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, Agrarian University of Georgia, Technical University of Georgia, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Caucasus International University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, etc.
Georgian and foreign students from various Georgian universities were given opportunity to deepen knowledge about the aspects and perspectives of practical use of innovative biotechnological solutions and to get acquainted with current research in modern laboratories.
It is noteworthy that a student session has been held within the framework of the conference where the young scientists presented the results of their own researches, received the feedback from scientists, responded questions and became engaged in a scientific discussion.
The conference proceedings were published by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in Georgian and English languages.
The final meeting was held at Caucasus International University, where Georgian and foreign participants discussed the results of the event, its significance and future perspectives.
