An educational competition - Way of Georgian Wine was organized for the pupils of various schools in Georgia by CIU Public Relations Service and the Faculty of Viticulture-Winemaking within the framework of the international scientific conference – Georgian Wine and Vine – Traditions and Challenges. The event was held at Caucasus International University on May 9, 2019.
The contestants presented their information on the vineyards and wine species, as well as their manufacturing technologies, from ancient times to the present day.
The project consisted of three stages, the best 26 works moved to the final stage and they were rewarded various diplomas according to three categories. Albert and Ilia Bolkvadze (Batumi, Gymnasium XXI Century); Luba Ramishvili (Chokhatauri, Public School of village Shuasurebi).
It is worth mentioning that before the award ceremony, the contestants visited Jighaura Research-Demonstrative Base of Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. 350 foreign and 437 Georgian species of grapevine are preserved at Jighaura nursery. Among them are unique and rare Georgian species, which have been collected and restored for a long time.
