A Public lecture delivered by Giorgi Kekelidze, a poet, prose writer, essayist, lecturer, TV host, General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, and a founder and editor-in-chief of electronic library lib.ge was held at CIU Conference Hall on December 3, 2018. The event was organized by Caucasus International University Student Self-Governance Education Committee.
The lecture was attended by students of various faculties and individuals interested in the topic. The presenter places emphasis on book and literacy, natural relation of a human being with a book and the love of literature.
Mr. Giorgi Kekelidze drew parallels with Georgian and foreign literature during the lecture. He conveyed his main message through various literary works and their analyses.
The lecture focused on the importance of the love of books and the natural demand for reading books, as well as the significance of analytical thinking skills and the lack of ready-made literary evaluations and attitudes. Mr. Giorgi Kekelidze opposed them with critical thinking, especially during school years, and noted that it is crucial for practicing mind.
The concluding part of the meeting was entirely interactive. Students stated their position and asked further questions to the presenter on the issues that interested them.
