International Youth Conference was organized and initiated by Caucasus International University Laboratory of Geopolitical Modeling and Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Georgian Committee which referred to UN Security Council resolution 2250. The abovementioned resolution was adopted on December 9, 2015 and it urges member states to increase representation of youth in decision making process at all levels. Furthermore, it encourages states to facilitate financial, political, technical and logistic support for the youth who participate in building peace processed during and after conflicts.
Mr. Alexandre Rusetski, head of CIU Laboratory of Geopolitical Modeling opened the Youth Conference and briefly introduced to the audience the history of UN Youth movement in Georgia.
It is noteworthy, that Mr. Giorgi Tumasiani, representative of Georgian Youth to UN in 2017-2018 and acting representative Ms. Lika Torikashvili attended the meeting together with BA, MA and PhD students of various CIU faculties. They discussed the role of Georgian youth in security issues and the significance of UN Security Council resolution 2250.
Ms. Lela Kartvelishvili, a member of the Consulting Council of the Parliamentary Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee from USA also became engaged in the conference.
