Caucasus International University hosted Mr. Peter Lydyard, CIU Affiliated Professor from Great Britain, an outstanding scientist and immunologist, Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of University College London and Visiting Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Westminster from January 14 to 18, 2019. Professor delivered lectures and seminars for the students of the faculty of Medicine within the framework of the visit. It is worth mentioning that besides lectures and seminars, Mr. Peter Lydyard is actively engaged in introducing modern teaching methods. In particular, he initiated the establishment of Moodle system for CIU Faculty of Medicine students. As a result, they are able to ask questions to their professors any time.
Mr. Peter Lydyard conducted a training – How to Write a Case for Problem Based Learning (PBL) for the faculty academic personnel teaching basic and clinical subjects. The above mentioned method envisages active involvement of students during the teaching process and facilitates the development of studying, conclusion making and communication skills. Problem Based Learning (PBL) Committee will be created at the Faculty of Medicine by the recommendation of the professor in the near future. The professor placed emphasis on the significance of Problem Based Learning in developing academic process and discussed in details the stages, ways and necessary human or material resources for introducing the above mentioned method. Mr. Peter Lydyard offered another activity within the frame of the visit and delivered a public lecture on the topic: Exciting Current and Developing approaches to New Therapeutic Agents - a personal view for the students, academic personnel and interested individuals gathered at the University conference hall on January 16, 2019.
We would like to remind you that trainings and working meetings with Georgian as well as foreign experts are systematically held at CIU Faculty of Medicine in order to introduce modern teaching methods and technologies. The activities will significantly facilitate the development of modern standards and internationalization of academic programs.
