Mr. Irakli Kandashvili, a chairperson of Education Council of Georgian Bar Association and a member of Executive Board met Caucasus International University students of the Faculty of Law within the framework of the campaign aiming in informing juridical society.
The above mentioned meeting was initiated and organized by CIU Career Development and Legal Affairs Services as well as the Faculty of Law.
During the meeting, Mr. Irakli Kandashvili discussed the amendments to the Law of Georgian On Lawyers and introduced to students the new regulation which will become active from January 1, 2019.
According to the proposed amendments, a person wishing to become a lawyer should pass an obligatory one-year internship program. It is divided into two parts: a three-month theoretical component and a 9-month internship with a mentor lawyer that is approved by the Executive Council of the Georgian Bar Association.
Mr. Irakli Kandashvili introduced to students five main directions of the three-month theoretical training, which is mandatory for inexperienced candidates, as well as judges and prosecutors:
